Question New HTPC

Hi, i would like to help with building my new htpc. I got an old one, which i built from an old laptop components. Its huge advantage was super low consumption when idle. Sadly, it is at the end of its lifespan. It doesnt handle 4k videos very well, especially those brays like BBC planet earth etc.

I would like your help with this new one. Keep in mind it runs pretty much 24/7 at some days. It should be able to chew on 4K 60fps videos while not being too loud and with low consumption. Lets post your ideas and worry about budget later.

My current HTPC is 4 years old, it's a passively cooled box because I insist on no noise, but my next upgrade I will be looking very hard at a... Nvidia Shield which runs Plex.

Well, i am like 90% sure to stay with Windows, my family all like to use it sometimes as an stand alone pc for web browsing, with that logitech remote keyboard/touchpad thing

this is a fanless build that should work fine for HTPC. I'm assuming you have your media stored on a NAS somewhere, and not on the HTPC, thus the small 240GB SSD, enough for OS and some media software. the cpu cooler and the PSU are both fanless. the 520W 80+ Platinum PSU is serious overkill for this box, as it uses only 82W total, but it was fanless and a very high quality manufacturer, and the least expensive fanless PSU with at least 80+ quality

Will that cooler be enough? Also, since i will be building this htpc around july, is it wiser to wait for those 3000 ryzens? Since 7nm is supposed to have much less power draw. Yup, 12Tb NAS in next room. My htpc has kinda cheap cooler, which runs at 30db full speed. So ill probably just go with some noctua ,as they have 22db max.

Current rumours indicate that the 3000 series APUs will be 12nm Zen+, so it may be awhile before we get 7nm Zen 2 APUs.

Ye, it probably doesnt matter anyway in htpc, tho that 3700x will go straight to my gaming pc. Anyway, i already got the case and 500w gold psu. The rest i composed out of this

i really like hyperx modules, and have used a comple of them, also i am 100% they fit with that noctua, mobo comes in bundle with that ryzen. Has moderate reviews tho.
