New I5-6600k CPU running way hot

I installed a new i5-6600k after my last one was defective from the manufacturer and I am noticing really really high temps. I left HWMonitor open over night while I downloaded some games, and just downloading games it got as high as 70 degree C. It idles anywhere from 30-50 degrees C.

I have an ASUS Prime Z270-A Motherboard and a Cryorig C7 top air flow CPU cooler. My last CPU with the same cooler never, ever hit 70 degrees C even under full load. I do not have an overclock on it.

Solution
If no settings or programs running have changed, this would be due to a bad mount. Keep in mind that you only have an H7 which, while a great buy for the money, doesn't quite approach the performance of the "big boys". Also to do temp comparisons, it is essential that , rather than using random activities as a means of comparison, you still with the same identical load and the same monitoring program. I would recommend doing all your comparisons using RoG Real Bench and HWiNFO

EDIT: As far as P95 goes i would not recommend this for modern CPUs

1. If you use older versions 26.2 IIRC), it doesn't have...
A few questions:

Did you change anything else beside the CPU?
Are there any background programs running?
Did you completely remove the old thermal paste from the cooler?
You said that your old unit did not hit 70C under full load, what exactly are you doing?
Are you BIOS settings set to default?

Nothing else besides CPU has changed and a new motherboard I went from another i5-6600k that was defective to this one. As far as background programs, no. This is a fresh install of Windows 10 as I got a new Motherboard before reaching the conclusion it was the CPU that was bad. I did completely remove all old thermal paste, and the 70C under load previously was running prime95 on 2 separate occasions for about an hour each. Afraid to run Prime95 now with how high the temps got just doing nothing really. Bios is all set to Default and all of my drivers are updated.

1. If you use older versions 26.2 IIRC), it doesn't have AVX and other modern construction sets which is like testing the off-road stability / capabilities of your Jeep on the highway in 2WD mode.

2. If you use the newest version, you run the possibility of dangerous temps being reached.

3. If you run the new version and limit your OC based upon temps, you have artificially limited your OC as P95 will apply a load far in excess of anything it will ever see again in it's lifetime. Again, that's like testing the towing capacity of your Jeep by pulling the Space Shuttle.

That ROG stress tester worked much better. Ran it for 45 minutes and max temp was 74C which I am totally fine with. Not entirely sure what happened over night that caused the spike in temps when just downloading games, though. Thanks for the link to that software :D
