So I have officially jumped ship. I feel like a scumbag lol. I felt like my 980 ti and gaming in general was being sabotaged by my fx 8350. I will spare the inane details, but suffice to say this build is chock full of above average to superb parts. My big question is this: what do I need to know going in about an Intel build? Is it more difficult to place their cpu in the motherboard? Also mounting an h100i AIO cooler. I have ordered ALL needed thermal paste cleaner and arctic 5 silver and new mounting hardware blah blah etc. Just somebody plz give me a heads up on the shiz that I am NOT thinking about cuz I have only done AMD in the past. Mucho thanks. And yes, I have an anti static mat and wrist strap lol.

It's no more or less easy or difficult than any other system. They all adhere to ATX standards for mounting and power. Only one thing to worry about, Intel uses different socket with needle contacts in it so you have to be very careful when installing CPU so you don't bend them.
If you want to stay on AMD, there are new Ryzen chips that equal or are better than some Intel ones.

DUDE LOL I just looked at my chip, it has NO PINS! lol wtf? Who decided I didn't need to know that as an Intel bewbie?! Any other suprises?

Intel doesn't make CPUs with pins on it starting with LGA775 socket, Pins were moved to socket itself since P4 and that was long time ago. It can be very fiddly to insert it properly, have to take care to place processor flat at first try, watch for the notches in the side of processor.
I don't use any anti-static devices just not doing anything on carpets and places like that. Just touch case every now and than and do not touch any contacts with your fingers. Never had a problem for years.

It can only go in one way right? Don't force it? I'm terrified.

On AMD was lever to lock in cpu. If it wasn't right it was hard to lock it down. But you're saying there is a metal cover? It should not resist if I have done it right, right?

On Intel when you raise leaver another part that partially covers CPU opens to other side. When you insert CPU, than you lower that metal part down and lock with leaver. Just look at picture in the manual, it should explain it. If you are already set to which MB you are getting, download it's manual in advance. Actually, you can pick manual for any contemporary Intel MB, IT's all about same way to mount CPU, just place for notches may be at different places for different processors.

I've gotten the Asus Prime-AR z270 motherboard. It came with a big manual. I am installing my corsair h100i gtx for the cpu cooler. Hoping to make the leap to overclocking. Also. I ordered the thereal paste remover and surface prep kit for Articlean and another tube of artic silver 5 for the TIM. Also terrified of how much thermal goop to use?
