New i7-3770K lagging games

games running off 1tb wd drive

hi i had an i5-2500k in the build and was playing borderlands 2 on it with no real issues (it was playable for what i had). i swapped it out for an i7 3770k and clocked it to a little over 4GHz. i have an eyefinity setup so when i first booted up with the new cpu, the resolution was off and repeated on all 3 screens. after fixing that by setting up an eyefinity setup again, i went ahead to play borderlands. The game was fine for about 2 minutes (40 fps) but then dropped below 20 and the sound kept glitching out. to be sure it wasn't the game i dropped the settings, played again but it kept happening. so i tried crysis 2 and 3 and i got the same results as in BL. when first starting the game i would get 50fps but would drop below 20 within a minute and the sound would stop completely. i'm pretty sure this has to do with the new CPU. anyone get something close to this?

i tried it all again with the CPU at default still no luck

Try to set your bios settings tp optimal defaults & test it

use hwinfo to monitor.

use prime 95 to stress the cpu

got it figured..for now i just changed the settings in the bios back now they run pretty smooth nothing special tho
