hello everyone,

I'm relatively newish to the PC building world and rely quite a lot on guides here and online to help me when anything I do goes wrong but I've never made an account until now as I cant find this issue anywhere. Recently I just purchased an i7 9700k to go along with my RTX 2080 super as I was told my old processor was bottle necking it. But once I installed the CPU it wouldn't boot up, the lights on my mother board would turn on but nothing else would turn on. I've listed the specs below I think might be relevant to the issue based on what i could find online.

edit: I realized I may have an outdated motherboard, what would be a suitable motherboard I could look into purchasing in the near future?

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz, 4008 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
BaseBoard Product MAXIMUS VIII HERO
GPU RTX 2080 Super

Solution
You may want Z390 chipset mobo. Z370 mobo will require 8th gen CPU to update the bios first before it can work with 9th gen CPU.

If you are not in a rush and you can return i9 9700K without significant financial loss, you may want to look at 10th gen CPU (this require mobo socket 1200). some seller already taken pre-order for mobo and CPU.
