Hi, I’m trying to build a pc for both of my uses, gaming and also I use some programs for my class that are demanding for the pc, I have some doubts about the pc in general if wether fulfills my needs or not and also if I don’t buy a graphics card, which problems do I have, i literally only use fortnite and lol.
Here it is.
CPU
i7-8700k
MotherBoard
Asus z370 e gaming
Ram
32 go ram 3200 MHz
Storage
500 gb ssd
2T

If it's light gaming and if your softwares benefits from more cores/threads, the ryzen 2700X is a better choice.

If it's storage intensive / memory intensive, a nvme ssd and maybe even a 1900X in a X399 mobo with a quad channel 4x8gb memory would offer much better performance than the 8700k.

The only use case where I see Intel trumps ryzen is in Adobe photoshop workloads and simulation softwares where clockspeeds and IPC matters.

If you are in a tight budget, ryzen is the best choice.

Solid works is not a very demanding software. Matlab clearly benefits from more cpu cores/threads.
