new installation can't access old drive

Hi....

I installed a new hdd and unplugged the data cable on my old drive (with windows on) I then installed a fresh copy of windows on the new drive, plugged the data cable back into my old drive with all my docs pics movies and old system on and it won't let me into the drive to retrieve my stuff before I wipe the drive any help would be much appreciated. . Thanks in advance.. mick

make sure your old dive is on a controller that the new windows has installed a driver for

does it see it ? and wont open it?

or doesnt see it?

It's there , windows detects it but won't let me access it

Access Disk Management and ascertain whether your OLD HDD is listed there, but a drive letter has not been assigned to the drive. If so, right-click on its graphic and select the option "Change Drive Letter and Paths". Then assign a drive letter -any drive letter will do.

Cheers guys I've sorted it , you know the 100mb system reserved partition on the old drive is that safe to delete ?
