After my struggle with windows 11 i reinstalled W11 with success.
But now i'm seeing that my D drive when w11 starts maxes out to 100% ?
I've run checkdisk and even reinstalled w11 again with all the updates but it still happens?
(C drive is ssd, D drive is a HDD)

Is there anyway i can see what program is using that disk?
Malware scans also didn't give anything.
The drive is encrypted with bitlocker and when unlocking it (and getting access again) the drive jumps to the 80-100%
Screenshot added that is my new installed w11 after a couple of seconds.

What would be the best solution here?

My personal files, photo's, video's work related files, steam games, etc and its impossible that there is malware etc on it because i've scanned it a couple of days ago with no hits.
Also ran the HP diagnostic tools (just incase my hd is dying) but that doesn't seem to be the problem either

When you installed W11 again, did you disconnect the HDD?
Check the partitions to see if the OS parked anything on it like page, etc.
Yes i did, i was a bit scared to format the D drive.
I turned my pc off, disconnected it and when w11 was installed i turned it off again and reconnected it.
could that have messed up the order?

This is what disk management says

Would it be possible to fix this error without to much problems?
Don't care if i have to install w11 again because its a fresh install anyway

I'm sorry i didn't know this USAFRet i will upload the pictures on IMGUR

I'm guessing bitlocker is the problem here.
Because when i unlock the drive from bitlocker i get an notification that said "encryption in progress" maybe thats what causing all this?
Anyway to uninstall that and stop it from reappearing on my D drive?

So far as i know i've always had win11 home, so i reinstalled with a clean w11 home edition.
But the Bitlocker Drive Encryption is nowhere to be found in control panel or anywhere else.
I saw that win11 pro had the options but win11 home doesn't seem to have those.

Could i delete it in win11 home?

I also pressed the notification when i unlocked the drive and got this.
This is probably why its at 100%? and i probably need to wait till its done i guess?

I'll report back when its 100% done to see if the drive calms down after the decryption process.

Currently still running and its at 45%
I'm guessing that the drive being HDD instead of SSD and the fact that its an almost full 7tb drive is taking longer than expected.
But i'll leave the pc on to let it do its thing and report back when its done.

Yay :)

The bitlocker was the big problem.
So now thats over (almost took 2 days) can i safely turn off my pc for the night?
Or will i have to disable this bitlocker nonsense before i get the same problems next morning?
And will every new account on my pc need to do this?
If so how would i uninstall bitlocker when i can't click on it because i am on W11 home instead of pro?

Thanks in regards everybody

No idea how it happend but its gone :)
And glad to know its the bitlocker having its way with a big drive rather than my drive is about to end its life.
After all feels kinda silly to make a whole topic on the bitlocker but i had a little panic attack when i saw the constant 100%
But its all gone now :) thanks again!
