Hi guys, I'm about to start a new build, making the switch from AMD to Intel. I just think the AMD gear just restricts everything, and I've had non stop issues with it :S
Ok the only think i am not going to buy is a graphics card. I already have a msi gtx770.

The CPU I am set on - i7-4930K 3.4Ghz
http://www.msy.com.au/qld/brendale/pc-components/144-intel-bx80633i74930k-hex-core-i7-4930k-34ghz-12mb-lga-2011-cpu-no-heatsink.html

The Motherboard - ASRock X79-EXTREME6
http://www.msy.com.au/qld/brendale/pc-components/1095-asrock-x79-extreme6-intel-x79-lga2011-8xddr3-3xpci-e-sata3-usb3-raid-motherboard.html

What does everyone think of that motherboard ? Does anyone have a better suggestion with in that price range, or another option that would increase performance.

One thing I am stuck on is the ram, I was thinking 4x4 16g 2400mhz as the cpu and mobo should handle it. Just I dont have much knowledge of what to look for in ram.

Pretty much this Pc is only used for gaming, BF4 and some racing sims. Im looking at eventually having 3 monitors. So im keen to spend some cash and have a decent build.

Thanks for your help all.

For gaming, X79 is NOT the way to go. Use z87 - LGA1150 cpus and motherboards instead. X79 is more expensive - for cpus and mobos. Only go for X79 is you want to use a powerful Intel hex core cpu say for video editing and/or you want the extra pcie lanes say for SLI performance.

Most gamers don't even use the high end i7 4770k lga 1150 cpu. They go for the i5 4670k instead. Most gaming does not stretch the cpu capabilities.

Well it is possible that the i7-4930K is overkill, But I want to build a good base setup so I can upgrade my video card in the future, and not have my pc out date so quickly.
I wanted to spend about 1500 on the cpu, motherboard and ram

My i5 750 has lasted me 5 years now.

What ram would you suggest for this build ?

Sorry, I thought by "stuck on" meant you already have RAM.
