So last week i got my new internet connection which is 25Mbps Download and 10Mbps upload. I got the router and modem combination, but now I'm starting to regret it. Just 2 days ago, i started only getting 1-5Mbps download speed and upload is around 4-5. I was wondering if i can change my combined router and modem to 2 separate devices like all my friends. The only thing is that I'm not sure if i can because my ISP is a third party company so I'll need to call them and ask, but if i can do u guys have any recommendations of modems and routers that is best suited for me? I game a lot and download many things so i would prefer getting a strong modem and router. Thank you

When the technician first came to install everything we did a speed test in the basement directly connected to the router, so then i tried it upstairs and got 15-20Mbps download (with the powerline) which doesnt bother me at all, i was fine with that, but then after a day or two, i started getting 1-5Mbps download.

Measuring it with http://www.speedtest.net/ , using Megabits/sec

Best answer is to call them and complain. I know att had my modem set to the wrong speed after I got it. A lot of the time you can go into the modem and look and see whats its set to yourself.

How can i check myself? and ill give it another week, if it doesn't get any better ill call them

Who makes the modem? You can normally look up its ip address and use that to get to an info tab about your broadband that tells you what is it configures for as a max data rate.
