New ISP, Router or Modem

We're getting a new ISP at home and they said we could either pay 50$ for them to get us some TP-Link n300 router or that we could supply our own. Should we get our own, and if so, router, modem, or both (something under or around 50$) or just go with what they give us?

All they said is that that N300 thing is what they would provide. I'm not entirely sure but i believe that its just a router.

i would contact them to clarify that because if they are offering you both then you should not need both a router and a modem. it may be the case though that the modem they give you may not have wi-fi capability so that may be why they are offering it to you

The lady has no idea either. She gave me that n300 which is not a complete model number. As there are many tplink n300s but none that i see are modems, only routers. And it is a one time purchase.
