so the new ivy bridge i7 processors for laptops are now higher ranked on http://www.cpubenchmark.net than the 3d gen i5 for desktops.

am i missing something or are the laptop cpu's better than the desktop cpu's in this case? because the i7-3610QM is clocked @ 2.30GHz while the i5-3570K is clocked @ 3.40GHz.

i know that the laptop cpu's have a turbo boost but still. am i missing something or are laptop cpu really that good?

and how reliable is the cpubenchmark.net list?

but do you think it's true that the ivy laptop cpu's are that good? and what website would you recommend for searching cpu's/gpu's?

Not trying to be rude, but use some common sense....both chips have basiclly the same architecture, but the lower clocks will definitely mean that the desktop i5 is faster.
The reason the i7 gets a higher score is that its hyper-threaded....those synthetic benchies really love HT, not so much for real life apps. And HT is only used once all 4 physical cores are already under use :)
