[SOLVED] New laptop screen doesn't show anything ?

Just swapped my laptop screen for a higher resolution one (the other is still functional, but in poor condition). The connection and platform are the same, and the vendor said they should be compatible. Thing is, as I installed it, it did turn on (checked the backlight, it did light up) but the screen doesn't show anything up. I connected the laptop to my TV, and saw in the device manager that the pc had recognized the new panel. So I try and connect back the old panel, and then it all works normally. Is there anything that might be done?

one thing would be that gpu isnt providing enough lanes for your higher resolution display
another thing would be different panel wiring
third reason could be not whitelisted edid panel name/manufacturer

post your notebook/mainboard, and panel name
