Question New M.2 drive not showing up

New PC build
It has 4 x M.2 slots on the Gigabyte X670E Auros Master
In slot 1 it has as primary M.2: Crucial T700 PCIe 5.0 2TB CT2000T700SSD3
In slot 2 it has WD_BLACK SN850X 4TB PCIe4

PC loaded W11 and working fine so Primary M.2 is OK. (Disk 0)

However when I went into Disk Management Partitions the second M.2 does not show
I removed and refitted the M.2 ..... and still the same.

Obviously keen to know if its the M.2 dive or motherboard ....
Any test from diagnostics or similar .....
In Device Manager it only shows the one device.

Otherwise I guess logically I need to try this M2 card in another slot

Are both drives being detected in BIOS?
If not, then obviously try a different m.2 slot.

If it is detected in BIOS, then show screenshots from windows

BTW - M.2 slots M2A_CPU and M2B_CPU are cpu connected.
Broken/bent pin in cpu socket can cause any of those two slots to become non-operational.

BTW - M.2 slots M2A_CPU and M2B_CPU are cpu connected.
Broken/bent pin in cpu socket can cause any of those two slots to become non-operational.

OK the 2nd M.2 will work in slot 3 or 4 (PCIe-4) as it would not work in SLOT 2. I assumed slot 2 faulty.
Swapped out the motherboard .... new one exactly the same ... no 2nd M.2 shows in Disk Management or Device Manager when in slot 2
As Slot 2 is PCIe-5 and direct connect to PC want to use that slot.

I am not really that familiar with BIOS but happy to look something up if advised what/where to look.

Your SN850X is PCIE 4.0 drive. It doesn't benefit from being placed in PCIE 5.0 slot.
It will still operate in PCIE 4.0 mode.

Your SN850X is PCIE 4.0 drive. It doesn't benefit from being placed in PCIE 5.0 slot.
It will still operate in PCIE 4.0 mode.

Yes but it will not go via controllers so will be faster direct lane access to CPU, while not a huge increase in r/w speed, there will be signalling benefits

Update ...

If I put WD PCIe4 in slot b it is not recognised
If I put it in slot a, c or d it is recognised.
I also tried The Crucial PCIe 5 in slot b .... it works fine, and if put WD in slot a it also works

With no real way forward to get slot b working with PCIe4 when there is a PCIe5 isn slot a ..... starting to look like
Slots 1 and 2 use CPU lanes so may lock them to gen5 if one Gen5 is used.
Slots 3 and 4 use chipset lanes so no issue there.

It may be the issue ..... had both WD and Gigabyte unable to resolve, so as within refund period ... returned WD M.2 to Amazon, and ordered a 2nd T700 PCIe5
So hopefully this will work

OK update on this .... bought another Crucial T700 instead - and that is working.
So WD_Black is not supported on Gigabyte Motherboard.
