Recently purchased an M.2 SSD to replace an SSD I presumed was causing some stutters, my stupid question is do i need to get rid of the ssd if it is causing that problem? since the m.2 is now running windows 10. as it is still currently plugged in as a secondary drive.

Solution
If the problems are gone with the new SSD, I would format the old one and retest it. The problems may have stemmed from just being too full. You need to leave about 20% of an SSD empty so it has some room to do it's internal housekeeping which keeps it's performance up.

if it passes testing:
and is a smaller SSD then I would put it in a USB enclosure and use it as a nice fast flashdrive.
A larger one I would use internally as a place to load games to.
