New m2 SSD doesn't feel noticeably faster

I formatted my HDD and reinstalled my os to my new m2 SSD. It should have "Sequential Read Speeds up to 3200MB/s and Sequential Write Speeds up to 1900MB/s". According to samsung magician I have R: 3,248mb/s and W: 1,767mb/s.

I think it's faster, but it doesn't really feel like it. I feel like the speed is a placebo, in terms of time, it takes the same amount of time as my HDD.
Booting takes 27 seconds, roughly the same time as the hdd. Games load the same time as with the HDD as I recall. I don't really notice any difference. Is it me, or is my SSD faulty? Or maybe I didn't do something right with bios? It's my first ssd, and people claim that its "stupid fast" and their computers boot in "3 seconds"

You have to take in to account the overall system spec. example is if you CPU still has to compute the data before going to the next read\write you will still be limited. Sequential writes is where the speed will be most noticeable. There will always be bottlenecks.

Do you have the most upto date drivers inc Chipset, also is the bios set to ahci and not ide?

The same SSD model won't perform the same across different systems which have different hardware. There are other factors involved, it depends on the system specs, most notably (but not limited to) the CPU.

1) Most likely for a Fresh OS + Program install you boot time is higher than what I would expect. Most of My Desk top systems initially had < 20 sec Boot time and Laptops =< 10 Sec. with SATA III SSDs (windows 7,8 and 10 and Not the newer M2's).
2) That said after OS Load I did NOT have a real noticable effect in performance. I'm Not a gamer, but I don't think there would be a big performance gain as Games are CPU/GPU constrained. When loading a "large Game file" a 1/2 sec diff maybe. for smaller single file loads, hard to tell the diff between One Blink of the eye and two blinks.
3) @ _Delly_ : It is the Random 4 K read/writes compared to HDDs random 4K performace that shows the greatest Performance benefit not the "Sequential writes is where the speed will be most noticeable"

my cpu is core-i7 6700k,
RAM is 8gb 3200mhz (xmp disabled though so its like 2933mhz)
mobo is asus z170-ar
not sure what matters with ssd speeds or boot time or loading a game.
I tried loading a game just now and it took as long it normally would with an hdd


How do I get the latest chipset drivers? Didn't I install that with the motherboard cd?
How do I set bios to ahci? Is that really necessary?
Are SSD's plug and play and feel the speed? Or do I have to set it up somehow?

Your Scores are better than Sata III SSDs.
Typical scores are:
500 -> 550 Mb/s for seq read/writes (32T1)
350 -> 450 for 4k read/writes (32T1)
450->500 for Seq
35-> 45 for 4k Reads and 100->150 for 4K writes.

Okay, so I just played bf4 and when it loaded Siege of Shanghai, it took something like 10 seconds, and right now was the first time that I felt the ssd. That map used to take like 5 minutes to load or something, I would go to the bathroom, make some tea, make cereal, and it would still be loading. But this time I just clicked on the server and I was on in ten seconds and I was like daaamn I'm angry now I don't know why, like I'm angry at how fast it is.

Besides that, boot time and starting a game takes the same time as what feels like an hdd.
Maybe I was expecting too much, or I was looking in the wrong spot.

Should the boot time be faster than 25 seconds? Is it like the bios checking on all the hardware? Because it only starts to be fast once the windows logo is showing

The ssd will not change how fast the Bios does it's thing. The SSD Only speeds up what is read, and written to the storage device (ie your SSD). The time spent in Bios is all the checks done and memory checks. Most BIOS's have a means of enabling "FAST" Boot (MY Gigabyte bios has Boot speed = Normal, Fast, or Extra Fast.). My self I prefer to let the bios check everything and NOT skip some checks.
