[SOLVED] Sound is coming through mic on new headset ?

Hey all, I recently purchased a Steelseries arctis 1 and have been having issues with the sound coming through the mic.

When on discord my friends can hear the YouTube videos or themselves echoing through the mic.

I have disabled Stereo Mix and tried various things but it still seems to echo through.

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Does the problem occur when you use other known working headsets/mics on your computer?

Does the problem occur if you use the Arctis 1 on another known working computer?

Determine if the problem follows the Arctis 1 or stays with the computer.

The problem is somewhat characteristic of a mismatched audio plug, port, or adapter.

Could be physical, mixed standards, or a defective cable.

Narrow down the source of the problem. If the source is the Arctis 1 then return it.

I have tried two different headsets on my PC and they both have the same issue.

With the problem staying with the PC you have a number of things you can do.

Even though you may have tried some of them, try again - usually there is a bit of a learning curve involved.

Run the Windows built in troubleshooters. The troubleshooters may find and fix something.

Right click the small speaker icon usually found in the lower right screen corner. A menu list of audio related configuration screens should appear.

Explore all of the menu options including the various windows, tabs, and properties presented. Just look first and be careful not to change anything. Make note of any configuration settings that are not as you expect or otherwise not understood.

Research accordingly and then try making changes but change only one thing at a time.

Again keep notes of what you change and where you changed it. You may need to undo something that went astray.

Take your time, be methodical.

Lastly try running "sfc /scannow" and "dism" via the Command Prompt.
