New mic with good reviews doesn't pick up audio unless yelling, and even then it cuts out like crazy

I bought a new mic that had good reviews (Vmoda Boom Pro) but it only works if I practically yell, and even then it still cuts out a lot so you can never tell what I'm saying. How do I fix this? What's even wrong? I updated my audio drivers so that's not the issue.

Check the cable and plugs for signs of damage or some defect.

Try another known working microphone on your computer.

Try the new mic on another known working computer.

Determine if the problem stays with your computer or follows the mic.

Double check that you did indeed download, install, and configure the correct audio driver's via the manufacturer's website.
