so my budget is around 280 usd plus minus so around there whats a good 775 mobo i should buy to join the core 2 duo league the 3 i have in mind are

Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Asus Commando
Gigabyte GA-N680SLI-DQ6

I mainly watch movies and play games

the p5w i heard(from reviews)that its easyerly overclockable(from like 5 reviews)but not a very high overclock(from most reviews but there was 1 that had some good overclocking results from a E6400 they got 3.68ghz.)

the commando is extreamly overclockable also heard was easy to overclock but lacks the digital home features and other minors like 2nd ide and external sata

the gigabyte has some over all features still nothing for DH(digital home) but also some good overclocking , i like the sli on it,

mainly im looking for overclockablity. but if the P5W DH deluxe can get generally the same results(or even a 6400 around 3ghz then ill be happy) as the commando then i think that might be my choice due to its features but what do u guys think?

4. none of the above - abit AB9 QuadGT

If you're happy with 3.0GHZ on a 6400 & like the feature set of the P5 WH then get that.

1 vote for the P5W DH

other boards can overclock better, i no that, but by no means is the p5w bad, infact its pretty good. Other boards come into there own when looking for extreme frequency's, but like me you are looking for something very reasonable.

I'm in the same situation as u at the moment, and im getting a P5w dh with
a 6600 mainly because its a good overall board, good overclocking capabilites and a good set of features that i would use and enjoy

hope that helps

mm this board seems good. most favoured for me as well due to its good overclocking for a DH board and i love the features. only things im not to sure about his board is its support for DDR2 800(pc 6400) as the of the chipset it says it only supports up to dd2 667 but i hear/read reveiews that ppl can get DDR2 800 working on it even ddr 1033, could anyone jst clear that up for me. thats one thing and the other is its support for sli 🙁

i think if it had support for sli, proper official support for ddr2 800, extream overclocking. it would be the perfect board

jst some questions? does anyone know the max fsb this board can go up to i heard 450 mhz then i heard 550 form another review?? hmm , and jst the ram story?

yup its a good board. yer it supports all kinds of memory speeds, u should have no problems there, just when your setting your pc up for the first time, u can select what speed u want your memory to run at (ddr 800 in your case).

meh sli's not worth it imo, bit of a waste of money, shouldn't really influence your choice.

as for the max fsb, with normal cooling, i think its between 400-450

.. i mean max fsb as in like what the board can actually go up to. say like both gigabyte board(names 2 long 2 rememeber) and commando board can go up to 650mhz fsb, not that anyones goten anywhere near that anyway.just for settings if you get wat im saying.

oh rite not sure about that 1. 650 fsb? u sure? most ive seen is about 500-550
think this boards lower than that . but 400-450 achievable on the p5w dh

whats wrong with haveing a good motherboard were jst paying for good features and a good computer??? , and plus ever thought of server boards??? think about your post before you post please
