A few months ago got a new graphics card, and since then everything related to my computer have been problems, bottlenecking, insane overheating, random crashes, driver issues...
so I've been thinking about getting a new mobo and cpu and keep the rest of the components, but, to be honest I know nothing about Intel cpus and their performance...

these are my current specs:

ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R3.0
AMD FX 9590
Devil 13 R9 290x
Corsair H100i
EVGA SuperNova 750w P2 and Thermaltake DPS Smart 750w

That's right. I need a dedicated psu ONLY for the graphics card, I'm using a mobo adapter to start both at the same time though. I had a 1200w EVGA but... well... it died while gaming.

I need a CPU that doesn't bottlenecks that graphics card, I have that FX which is the top tier AMD chip and it bottlenecks it even with overclock, it drains a lot of power and it overheats like hell even with liquid cooling... I can only think about switching to Intel to have a stable build. Help, I can't keep getting PSUs just to keep up with this thing

Sounds quite horrible, hence why the FX-9590 is never recommended though.

AMD is releasing new and potentially powerful AM4 CPU's for the price in Q1 2017. Might be better to wait unless that's not really possible any longer.

What's your budget, if you're looking into Intel right now? You'd be looking at either an i5/i7 + Z170 motherboard + new DDR4 memory.

Hello, try to monitor your CPU and HDD and check if is 100%. ( with task manager or msi afterburner )
If is 100% the HDD , let the PC cool down for 1-2 hours, and if the HDD is 100% always , in gaming or daily use , u MUST replace the HDD with a SSD. ( i don`t think the CPU is 100% , because is a high end cpu )
I can bet that your system will work perfectly with the SSD , and with base clock AMD CPU .
Try this and we are waiting for your reply.
*And search for a Corsair PSU with 1000W.

For a single R9 290x, but what about a dual core card? this thing eats up to 700w by itself, that's why I had to use a dedicated PSU for it. I've overclocked it a bit but I had to revert it due to the CPU bottleneck, and the dead PSU.

And I'm not counting other parts here, like 2 4TB drives, plus 2 extra 2TB drives, 2 SSDs, led fans, pwm and regular molex fans, dvd drives, pci-sata card, tv tuner, my computer it's pretty much like a media and gaming center

HDDs are not always @100% and I've configured Windows to turn some of them off while not in use
2x Western Digital 4TB Black and 2x Western Digital 2TB Purple, both purples and one black are turned off after 1 hour of not using them, I've attached an extra fan on the side of the drive cage to keep them a cool
Plus I have 2 SSDs, one is dedicated only to the OS and some programs (128GB Crucial) and another is just for games (240GB Corsair)

If I use stock CPU frequency the card will bottleneck it, even at its stock frequency, it stutters a lot on heavy CPU demanding games, I remember I used to have a GTX 950 and everything was fine, then the Devil arrived lol

for the moment this psu config works, and I guess it'll work better if I switch to Intel, airflow is nice, case is without its side panel and graphics card is 10°C cooler

Oh boy, i7 6900k looks SO good, but it's price... my budget is up to $600 ( my very own xmas gift :bounce: )
CPU is definitely going to be an i7 6700k so I won't have any more bottlenecking problems, still looking for a mobo & ram
