Before:
Generic/OEM LGA775 Mobo (not from MSI, Biostar, Asus, etc)
Intel Q8300
OEM Vista (PC came with it installed, I have no disk but have a sticker with the product key).
Mobo died on me. No point in spending money on a old school LGA775 mobo so I ordered LGA1155 mobo with new CPU(on a side note, it is amazing how much people will still pay for a LGA775 mobo, look on ebay)
After:
MSI LGA1155 mobo
Intel i3-3220
Should/can I just install the new mobo and CPU and connect my old HDD to it(the HDD with OEM Vista)? Continue as normal and not have to reinstall Vista(I don't have an actual disk).
or
Should/need to get a new retail copy of Windows 7 or 8(which honestly I don't mind because I planned on doing it sooner or later, but I still cannot decide which one so I want to hold off)
Thanks.
