i have a gigabyte ultra durable ga-f2a75m-hd2 mobo, 2 8gb kingston ram, and an amd quad core with this 1tb hd. I installed everything, made sure it was right and then moved wires to tidy it up. then checked all the plugs again.

The cd/dvd burner and hd are both plugged in with the newer style plugs from power supply (both off the same chain). They are both powered by sata and I have tried moving which sata they are in as well.

The problem is that in bios, the wd hd will show up. Same with my external if i plug that in...but when I go to the windows 7 pro install, it wants me to select a drive to install it on, and none show up. Ive tried everything I know how to do(which isnt so much ill admit)

Get to another rig with the driver disk from the mobo, put the drivers on a flash drive, then when you try and install windows, it will ask if you haver drivers, tell it yes and direct it to the Flash drive, it will load them then probably 'see' the hard drive

well the drivers are on a cd, and im using my usb to install windows, shouldnt it also work via disk? or is it an error with the dvd/cd drive?
ill copy the files to my external now either way. but i tried installing the drivers via the browse and selecting the mobo disk. i guess i never thought maybe it means it didnt have the dvd/cd drivers...thanks for the idea

I copied the disk to my usb external 2tb. it didnt show up in the list on the desktop. so i inserted the cd and browsed to the specific driver i found in the booklet that came with mobo. it says 'no devide drivers were found. make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK"

the mobo im installing the the gigabyte ultra durable ga-f2a75m-hd2 if this helps at all. its a wd 1tb hd and then the cpu is amd quad core 4ghz. 2 8gb kingston ddr3, cd/dvd burner and thats all folks
