Hi. I know this question has been asked many times before, but I wanted to get your opinions on this guide:
http://www.dowdandassociates.com/blog/content/howto-repair-windows-7-install-after-replacing-motherboard/

Is this a valid method of getting my computer to work without reinstalling windows?
Which files would I need from the asus website: (windows 7, 64 bit)
http://www.asus.com/uk/supportonly/Z170%20PRO%20GAMING/HelpDesk_Download/

I can get into BIOS, but when I try to load windows I get a blue screen. I have a hard drive and a ssd. They are clones of each other at the moment, so I shouldnt have to worry about backing anything up right?

I also have the dvd that came with the motherboard, is it possible to boot from that disk and load new drivers or something like that?

New hardware:
Z170 pro gaming mobo
i5-6600K
Team Elite + 4GB 2400MHz (x2)

Thanks for your time

You will have to reinstall the programs on the copy of windows you are running on the new system. Some simple programs might work by just finding the EXE or other program file and running it but more complicated programs will not as they put files in your windows folder to run.
Quick follow up. If all the above is useless I have my windows 7 disk so I can reinstall. Is it likely that if I reinstall windows onto my ssd, I will still be able to run games and other programs I have installed on my hd. Or are those somehow tied to a particular version of windows?
