New Mobo for 6600k overclocking build!

Hi,
I'm forking out a little on upgrading my PC.

New Specs (so far): http://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/HTTKZ8

Looking good? All parts that aren't included in the second list are being used in another build. I need not only opinions on all parts not marked purchased, but also what motherboard should I buy? I want to be able to overclock this CPU, fairly well.
Things with my old Asrock motherboard I really disliked:
Couldn't overclock because 4+1 power phase was weak
UEFI system was quite hard to navigate, making a newbie overclocker like me very confused.

I have a budget of about 160-180.... but no more than that even by $5.

Yep, I had it narrowed down to the Hero and the Pro Gaming for my build, and went ahead with the Hero as I had both the previous models and knew they were good strong mobos, since I test a lot of components on my rigs, both personally and for/from other rigs, and OC most everything that can be OCed. Am toying with the Pro Gaming or the new version of the Hero for a build with a 6700K to replace my Z87 rig

I plan on buying a 1070 later as well 😉. I think my cpu with bottleneck a 1070, plus I believe games will run better with an Intel CPU over an amd CPU. I'm making a build with the other parts and have friends who have agreed to buy it off me, so i get about $440 back from all the parts I have taken out, so that to me can justify the expensive upgrade as technically I am only spending about $220 approx. extra, for a big jump in performance hopefully (according to benchmark tests).

Do you recommend a motherboard??

You really need a Z170 board for overclocking the i5 6600K, but your choices are limited in your budget range. My choice would be Gigabyte's GA Z170 HD3.

It depends on what you're playing, if you like MMOs or some of the specific games that don't run well on AMD FX CPUs then a CPU upgrade will really help. If you're mostly playing games like Call of Duty then only the GPU matters.

Motherboard wise I'd recommend the Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 5 or ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING if you're looking for a board that will overclock OK and not cost a fortune.

I play RPG and open world games such as Fallout 4, Witcher 3, Far Cry 4 and Skyrim remastered when it comes out.
I'm sold on the cpu. If you just do a YouTube search of fx 8350 vs i5 6600k and find benchmarks, its often over a 20 FPS improvement.
Yes I am trying to decide between those two boards currently. Some people recommend the Gigabyte, others the ASUS, some the Asrock model. I'm not sure which to choose yet.

Sorry I don't understand. What do you mean don't have power phase designs? Plus I thought they were bad for overclocking...

Hmm ok, still better than my 4 on my last one. I want to achieve in the 4.4 to 4.6 Ghz range, would this be achievable with 6/7 power phases? The P has 7, I just looked it up.

I would love to be able to spend more on a motherboard, but I'm not sure that I can....
Out of these two motherboards, which one would allow me to reach my overclocking goal best.
Also do you think you could maybe recommend one motherboard of about the $200 range if you think that is more appropriate. Thanks

I've decided to go max budget and go with the Asus z170 Pro Gaming for $255 Aud. I've seen your posts on other forums and you recommend Asus everywhere as far as I can see. I was going to go with the Asus Z170-AR (I can't buy the Z170-A) but decided I didn't like the colors as I'm going with more of a Red/Black and that board is white. Do you think this is a smart decision?

So you don't like the idea of the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming??
I am leaning away from asrock at the moment as the one I got hasn't been the best to me with 4+1 power phase, uefi that was confusing and no usb 3 headers.
I'm leaning towards Asus or gigabyte most of all. The pro 4 is cheaper than all, and I know this doesn't mean its worse, but which board will perform best?

I can not buy the A in Australia, only the AR and that will cost me $240, the Pro Gaming is $255.
Pro gaming has 10+1 power phase, for 15$ extra, I get the color scheme I want and a board that is supposedly superior, do you agree?

Ok awesome, Pro gaming it is. I've stooped to the level of loaning a bit of money of family, but hopefully its worth it!
