I changed mobo from Asus P5QPL-AM P41 to Asus P5Q-E P45. I have win 7 64bit.
It boots but after system info it says Hard drive not detected and it loads windows logo and than resets it self, but in System info and the bios the hard drive is detected, full name, size and all.

I can boot the installation CD from the new mobo but it will ask me for Floppy wich i don't have nor do i have floppy drive. Is it possible to install drivers on external drive and load them up, remember i can't boot to windows.

Or does anyone knows how to get it to recognize my hard drive. I'm trying to not to reinstall my windows, because i have TONS of games and programs on it.

Solution
All you need to do is set the BIOS to Hard Drive recognition in AHCI Mode... if it doesn't work, set it to IDE Mode.. any of the two should work, after that logon and install the SATA drivers.

Loging on may be another issue but if the mobos are very similar it may not... and if so, reinstall Windows.
