new mobo help please

hello i just received a motherboard ram and cpu package ripped from an old packardbell imedia s 2870 pc and i was trying to get it to accept a new harddrive but its refusing

i have tried a hdd with an os previously installed and i have also tried booting from a windows disc with a blank hdd

however each time i just get a message after splash screen saying boot drive not found or failed

i also cannot get the bios up , tried mashing f8 and tried f10 but nothing

try del at the first splash screen it normally opens up the bios on most systems.
also which o.s. are you using? what exactly is the error and does it throw up an error number?

i managed to get into the bios now but thanks for the help i had to play with lots of stuff in there and turn off authentication change boot priority and all sorts of stupid things had to be turned on that should have been before it could boot from cd lol

as i am typing im installing win 7 64bit home premium

if you can skip the languge packs on the windows update. they take up to 6 hours to install on some systems.
