howdy, I had a i5 2500k system with a asus mobo, the mobo died(after like 2 hrs) and due to the problems with the new gen chipsets I cant get a replacement, so I returned it and am getting a i7 950 and asus mobo.

my question is this...will I have to install Win 7 x64 again on my SSD? or just picking that as the first in the boot order will it still work?

thanks in advance....hope this is the right place to ask...

It might work but there will be issues, and Windows will require reactivation even if it did work right. I would suggest reformatting and save yourself the headache, you had to much headache already. If your Windows is OEM you might have to buy a new key because the old key is tied to your old motherboard. If you bought retail your good to go.
