I recently installed an AsRock z77 Extreme 4 in my computer. I also bought a SSD and re installed windows 8. However now when I listen to any sort of audio playback, whether it be youtube or playing video games, the audio is choppy, slowed down at times and filled with static. This happens when I plug my headphones and speakers in both the front panel connector and directly into the mobo. I was curious if this is a hardware problem? Or if anyone has any suggestions?

Make sure you've installed the latest driver on all of your components including the motherboard's BIOS and chipsets.

Important:

Consult your Motherboard Manual Before Making Changes

Editing the system BIOS and motherboard settings improperly can result in system failure. Be sure to read your motherboard's manual thoroughly before attempting to flash your BIOS or update your motherboard's chipset drivers.

If you are not comfortable in performing the steps indicated by your motherboard's manual, please contact your motherboard manufacturer or system assembler for assistance.
