Hi,

I just bought myself a new monitor on sale, an AOC G2770PF to be exact.
It's advertised as 1920 x 1080, 27inch with 144hz and 1ms.

I first noticed the issue when I was trying to watch a movie on Netflix which had a lot of darkness in it, and it appears as pixelated/colored/too bright blacks. Something I've only seen before when messing around with Photoshop. I'll attach a picture:

I've tried messing around with all the settings I can, nothing really helping. I tried different ICC profiles too, although I struggled finding one for this monitor specifically. In the end I reset everything because it just looked better by default than what I eventually ended up with. I've tried changing DisplayPort cables, I've tried different ports on my 1080Ti. It looks decent in games and stuff, it's just that when something is blurry (like when you open the buy menu in CS:GO), there are these gray sharp waves.

If anyone knows what this is, I'd be grateful. It's not too late for me to return my monitor if there's something wrong. I also noticed slight backlight bleed in the right bottom corner but it stopped bothering me quickly.

Perhaps this is normal for a budget 144hz 27inch screen, I don't know. I've had cheaper screens before and never seen anything this bad.

EDIT: I may be stupid right now, but.. if you can see what I can see on that picture it's not my monitor, is it? Which means you can't see what I see on that picture? I'm confused.

I suspect it is running at 8bits. But it is set in your Nvidia control panel.
I would guess this is you moving from IPS to TN.
TN Panels do have notoriously bad colors compared to TVs and IPS panels. The pixelated and bright darkness comes from that.

As for the gray 'waves,' I don't know. If it's something that bothers you greatly, it would be suggested to return it and get a replacement. While the color thing does probably come from its specifications, any artifacts or anything like that can only be attributed to the monitor and the GPU. Since I assume the GPU is fine, it must be the monitor.

Is this your first TN panel?
What is your contrast set to?
Have you compared your settings to those Toms used in their review? If it is too high, it could cause this.

It sounds almost like you are not running it at 8bits.

Yep, I guess it is so. I guess I've been spoiled, and I didn't really know there would be that much of a difference. Anyway, thanks for your help, I feel I've learned a lot!

The brightness or Gamma may be set to high. The issue you're facing I think may be called banding. Have you tried any brightness settings? Sometimes a broader setting such as computer , vivd or game mode may override individual color settings entered by the user.

I do agree with the other answers that the issue may be an unavoidable one where TN panels are concerned.

What did I use to calibrate my TN panel 32" TV? I used Windows' Color Calibration feature. Left-click start and type Cali and then left-Click Calibrate Display Color.

I wasn't exactly pleased so my search continued. I did a Google search for VIZIO D32-D1 Calibrate Color. That led me here.

I also tried http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/

If you can't find an article like the one above for your model and the LCD-Test pages doesn't help the obvious answer is an IPS panel monitor.
