I just bought Dell U2414H and the very fist second that I turned it on, I noticed very thin, static horizontal lines. I am using grey solid color background.
When I looked closely I noticed the pattern: every odd line of pixels is a bit brighter/darker than every even line. I just noticed another pattern, if we draw an imaginary line from top left corner to bot right, the issue only exists in the lower left half of the screen. Image: http:// Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem, is this a hardware or software issue, is there anything I could do?

Solution
This can be due to a few possibilities:

1) a faulty cable- try a different one

2) the cable not being fully inserted and seated at each end

3) electrical interference- watch for any power cables running alongside and near the monitor cable, especially parallel to it

4) if none of this pans out, than the monitor is faulty and should be exchanged

Solution
So, I've returned the monitor, and it took me 45min to convince them that there are visible horizontal lines, and when they saw them, they said this was barely visible and laughed. Then I requested money back, everyone stopped laughing, and that was it :) I'll have to buy a new monitor now. Thanks for the advice.
