So I just got a new monitor LG-ultragear(27gr83q-b) and it is supposed to be able to go up to 240hz. The first few days I was using it I got it to run 240hz, no today it will only go up to 144hz. I have the most up to date graphics drivers and monitor drivers but neither of these have changed since I had it running at 240hz. I have checked and rechecked that the cable I am using is dp 1.4. I have unplugged and reconnected the cable on both ends. The only thing that I have changed on my pc is downloading forza motorsport. I have no idea why it is doing this and would appreciate any and all ideas. Thanks in advance.

specs:
cpu: i7-12700k
gpu: 4070 super
motherboard: msi pro z690
ram: 32 gig 3600 cl 18

edit:
I uninstalled forza which did nothing obviously.
Also I have gone into nvidia control panel where it lets me select 240hz but when I hit apply the screen goes black for a few seconds and when it comes back it is back on 144hz.

Monitor uses Display Stream Compression (DSC) to achieve 240Hz and should be automatic when set to DP 1.4 mode. DSC can be lost if DP mode has been set to 1.2. Check monitor osd settings DP mode is still on 1.4.

I checked the osd settings, it was still at 1.4. I also then reset the monitor settings and made sure it was still at 1.4 and it is still only running 144hz.

May not be workable via NVIDIA.

I found the following Monitor User Manual Link:

https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-27GR83Q-B.AUS

The manual (.zip format) Page 29:

"29ENGLISH
General
Input Compatibility
Version
Please set the Input Compatibility Version to match the version of the connected external device.
HDMI 2.1(PC)/2.1(AV)/1.4
If you want to use the HDR, select the Input Compatibility Version to 2.1(PC) or 2.1(AV).
DisplayPort 1.4(DSC)/1.4/1.2
If you want to use the HDR, select the Input Compatibility Version to 1.4(DSC) or 1.4."

Actual presentation was in a table format.

Note: Could not get a direct link to the manual or page so I downloaded the .zip file to copy and paste the configuration settings.

Be sure to save or otherwise "OK", "Confirm", etc, the required DSC setting on the monitor.

Well I appreciate the two of you who responded, I ended up getting it to work by unplugging the original dp 1.4 cable and trying another one which allowed me to select 240hz. I then unplugged the new cable and re-plugged in the old one and it still let me select 240hz. So in conclusion either I am dumb or dp is dumb (most likely the former).
