[SOLVED] New Monitor/Older Computer Resolution Problem

I'm trying to get a new Acer 32" monitor (Model ET322QU) to work with an older Dell system that is still running Windows 7. The monitor is supposed to have a native resolution of 2560 x 1440. The computer has an AMD Radeon HD 6450 GPU which I know isn't great, but is supposed to be capable of displaying that resolution. The computer shows 1920 x 1080 resolution (recommended) and only lower resolutions from there. The monitor works at that resolution but shows wide black borders. We can scale the screen to fill the monitor with the monitor controls, but it seems like there should be a way to output the full resolution from the computer to the monitor. The computer and monitor are connected with a new HDMI cable. What am I missing?

Also, we tried switching the GPU to a Radeon 550 (not RX 550) but that didn't work. The monitor showed the "No Signal" message. I don't know if the card is bad or if there is another compatibility problem. Any help would be great!
