New Monitor or GPU Upgrade?

Hey! So I will be getting around $200-$250 for Christmas and I wanted to upgrade my PC. I am getting new peripherals as well, so I don't need those.

My options boiled down to:

1. New monitor, either:
1. 1080p 144hz (ASUS VG248QE)
2. 1440p IPS (Acer G257HU)
3. 1080p Ultrawide (2560x1080) (Either LG 29UM68-P or the LG 29UB55-B)

2. New GPU
Sell my GTX 1060 for around $200 and get a GTX 1070

Which is the better option? I am going to get one at Christmas and get whatever I don't choose later (in a few months).

Thank you so much for your help!

For fast movements I prefer the 144hz however 60 FPS is still good if your a casual FPS player. I don't think it will improvement the explosions, just any quick action such as turning quickly (competitive) or racing games would you benefit from a higher refresh rate.

The 1060 would game on any of them but you may need to lower the graphics a bit to keep high FPS but IMO it depends on the game. For myself who owns the Asus VG248QE I keep the graphics low on BF4 not only to keep high FPS but it takes away all the "flair" and un-needed special effects that are distracting. Then on my single player, MMO or causal games I increase the graphics level and keep the games around 60-80 FPS. I have to say though I play more casual games then FPS...

I play online games like BF1 and Overwatch a lot, but I don't really play competitively. Would the 144hz monitor help with all the action/explosions in BF1?

And can a 1060 run any of these monitors?
