So I just got a new monitor....its a widescreen 23 inch LCD 1920x1080. I've never had a flatscreen monitor. Been living in the stone age I guess and always used my old bubble monitors. :heink:

1st question is there is 2 ports on the monitor. 1 is vga and the other is dvi. I'm wondering if I should be connecting both of these or just 1 or if it even matters. I have a 5770 with 2 dvi ports on it. At first I had both the vga and dvi connected to both dvi ports on the card (vga using a vga-dvi adapter) I took off the vga so now its only the dvi connected to the card and it doesnt seem like there is a difference. If I have them both connected does it use both or still only use 1 either way?

The other thing I'm wondering about is if I should connect the vga straight to the comps port/motherboard port and the dvi to the card or just leave as is with only the dvi connected to the card and just leave the vga alone and not connect it to anything.

I'm a complete noob when it comes to monitors so any help appreciated.

You only need one DVI cable. Connecting the same computer to the VGA port as well will give no benefit, and in some cases may confuse the hardware at one end or the other. The VGA port is useful for a computer that doesn't have a DVI output, or if you had a second computer, you could connect it there.
