Recently decided to change from Gigabyte GA-Z97X +Intel i7-4790k to Asus Prime Z390-A+ Intel i5-9700k.

Everything else but the ram is the same as my old working build, also added a 1 TB ssd for more space. Part of old setup is a 1TB hdd that was just for excess space.

I am currently able to get into BIOS and boot from windows cd. None of the drives are currently detected for boot (have windows 8.1 on a 250gb ssd). I was also able to use one of the bios tools to update bios from a flash drive.

I entered the 8.1 activation key, going as if I were merely reactivating it that was accepted and it said something to the effect that it was going to reboot as normal. It didn't. Had a friend suggest that due to me incidentally having had 1TB ssd on a sata port earlier than the old 250gb ssd with windows 8.1 on it, it's possible I installed the 8.1 key onto the new 1tb ssd (which is meant just for storage) which may make all this even more screwy idk.

Looking for help to sort this all out.
