Hello guys. I'm slowly going insane. It all started a couple of months ago. My computer suddenly got some startup problems. When i turned it on it just went into a reboot loop. I searched for help everywhere and found out that it most likely was either my ram, mobo, bios or psu that caused the problem.

I have now tried everything from flashing the bios on my old motherboard Gigabyte z97x gaming 7 (also clearing the cmos to boot on the backup bios) to getting a completely new motherboard and a new psu.

Firstly i ordered a new motherboard (Maximus VII Hero). I switched it out with the old one and turned it on. My pc started just fine, but after about 20 seconds it quickly turned off and back on, just once. After that it stays on. But it does not post anything on my monitor either after or before the reboot.

I then thought that it was my power supply that caused the problem (EVGA P2 850 watt). I then ordered a new EVGA P2 750w psu. It just arrived today, but installing it did not change anything. My system turns on for 20 sec and then turns off and on again. Just like before.

I've tried to remove my gpu (Evga 970 ftw+) and use onboard graphics instead (i7 4790K), but it still wont show anything on my monitor. I've also tried switching between display port, hdmi and dvi.

What can i do? I'm out of ideas and i haven't gamed for almost a month now. I'm getting desperate!

First try to take off all ram sticks and than boot the PC and check if there's any beeps, second if there is some beeps than try installing your Ram stick one by one and by that i mean that you need to insert first stick and try too boot if the pc give post signal than you should insert the second one etc.
so if one stick of ram is defective you will know.

Try breadboarding your system, it could be some shorting issue. For this take out your mobo from your case and place it on a cardboard box, like your mobo's box. Have it with only your CPU, 1x RAM module and ofc the PSU + keyboard and monitor and turn it on using a screwdriver to short the pins where the power button usually is plugged in. This way you'll eliminate any shorting issue that could exist and assuming that's the problem you should get a successful boot.

Thanks for the reply, both of you. I've tried out the things that you said. No beeps when booting, but i still tested every ram stick. It made no difference.
I've also tried breadboarding my system and turning it on by shorting the pins. It made no difference either.
But i noticed that my motherboard has a "cpu_led" turned on. I looked it up in the manual and it says "If an error is found, the corresponding LED flashes until the problem is solved". - Could this mean that it's my CPU thats faulty? Like really?
Maybe it makes sense since switching motherboards didn't help.

Given that you don't get a RAM failure code without any RAM module installed and discarded any shorting issue running it outside the case, then yes, it seems your CPU is the problem.

Take it out and look carefully for any bent pins, with a little luck restoring them will get your CPU working again (assuming it's a bent pin situation).

if you can at least get into the bios setting, check the cpu temp and see if its overheating. i doubt that this is the case but it doesnt hurt looking at the issue. you could try putting new thermal paste on the GPU.

I've removed the cpu about 3 times and every time i re applied new thermal paste. I've also used a magnifying glass to look on the socket on the motherboard for any bent pins. I could not find any. Damn.
Would it be stupid to upgrade to skylake now, when kaby lake is right around the corner?

I cant get into the bios. Nothing shows up on my monitor is just stays blank. I've re installed my cpu cooler (h100i) multiple times and applied new thermal paste every time. I've even tried with the stock cooler.
