New motherboard necessary ?

Well, i want to change my old Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2Ghz to E7600 3.6Ghz. But when i ask the seller , they said i had to change my motherboard , Ram and GPU . Is that really necessary ? Because i think it just their business strategy.

In this case they're right. The E7600 is a 45nm CPU and your board will only support 65nm. not even a BIOS update would fix this. It's a chipset limitation. The best you could do there is an E4700: http://ark.intel.com/products/34441/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E4700-2M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB The E6000 series is also 65nm, but the FSB doesn't match.
