One of my ram slot out of two on an Intel DH61ww died and now i'm stuck with only 4GB of Ram on a single ram slot 🙁

In this situation what should I do change the Motherboard or buy a single 8GB RAM ?

Will the second ram slot die out soon like the first or there is no need to worry about that ?

If I change the motherboard I will have to reinstall Windows again which is a hassle and don't know exactly if I will get my free Win 10 upgrade form my win 8.1 single language OEM :??:

First test the remaining working RAM in the vacant slot.

If it works then it was a RAM failure, if the RAM that worked in one slot fails to work in the currently empty slot you should probably look at a motherboard upgrade.

If it turns out to be a RAM failure, best practice would be to buy an entirely new set of 8GB RAM. There's no guarantee mixing RAM from different packs will work (even the exact same models), so if you were going to be investing in new memory the most reliable choice would be to get a pack of two new 4GB sticks.

I checked, the ram works in the second slot just doest boot up in the first one
So pretty sure its a dead ram slot
