New Motherboard, OS not working?

So I just installed my new mobo (MSI 990 FXA-GD80) and my windows 7 is not working. I try to put my windows 7 disk in and attempt to do the "upgrade" option but when I click that it tells me "I need to take the installation disk out and let windows boot properly" or something along those lines but I try that and it does nothing. I don't want to do custom install because I do not want to lose all my programs files etc. Any help would be appreciated!

The upgrade disk does not support booting from cd/ or dvd at first power up of the system it is non boot able.

The upgrade must be done within an existing running os.

The full version is boot able.

It is telling you in order to do the install you must be in windows.
That is the draw back with a upgrade version of windows.

If your old installation of windows does not boot then your in trouble.

I presume you had windows XP or some prior os running and bought and upgrade disc to windows 7.

No it's the Windows 7 Home Prem. OEM disk I bought when I first installed windows, not an upgrade disk. My current version of Windows 7 does not boot but I checked other threads about new mobos etc and they all said that the new motherboards do not have the windows drivers on it etc. I can access windows startup repair and all that but I just cannot boot without getting a quick blue screen then an instant reboot.

Are you suprised.

This is what you did took the old board out.
Fitted the new one connected everything up and tried to boot windows 7.
It did not work did it, it just blue screened.

You have to do a fresh install of windows since you changed the board.

If you have an Oem disk, meaning the system was a pre built one.
Example Dell. Then the install version of that contains all of the drivers for the old board.
It will also check to see if it is the correct motherboard.

No match no install or setup.

Oem is licenced to a set hardware.
You changed the mother board a main part of the hardware.
Setup exits.

The disk would never work since all of the drivers are pre installed on an Oem version of windows 7 by Dell ect, so even if it got at a point of installing drivers it would blue screen as none of the drivers are right for the new Msi board.

You have to by a new or full version of windows.
Format then install windows where it will begin to work out the drivers needed to install to work with the new msi board or ask you to install them from the cd provided with the board.

It wasn't prebuilt it I built it. But does that mean I have to install a new Windows and lose all my programs files etc? And no not really surprised I knew OEM is linked to my old hardware, I am more pissed I don't want to lose all my programs and have to install them all again! Well thanks anyways, I was just hoping there was a way to get Windows working again without re-installation and losing my stuff.
