So tomorrow I will be upgrading my motherboard along with a new cpu, ram and ssd. Are there any pre upgrade steps such as formatting my old hard drive (still going to use my old one as my ssd is only 250gb for a boot drive) or uninstalling drivers? I'm planning on doing a fresh install of windows if that helps.

Solution
When you do a clean install on a new drive(hopefully on a ssd), leave all other drives disconnected.
If you do not, windows will put hidden recovery partitions on the extra drive, complicating its removal later.

When you reattach your drives later, files will be available to you.
Any apps that installed using the registry will need to be reinstalled.

So install windows on the ssd without old drive plugged in, after windows install plug in old drive, and then format old drive. Just making sure i understand this correctly.
