New motherboard with new cpu?

So I'm lookking to buy a new cpu and I haven't been able to find many that fits into my 1150 socket, so my question is, do I need to buy a new motherboard where newer cpus fit? I currently have an Intel i5 4460 3.2 ghz. Do you have any recomendations on better cpus? Not to steep! TIA
