Hi all,

I installed a new motherboard today and my pc now won’t boot. I press the power button and the cpu fan spins for half a second then everything shuts off, pressing it again and nothing happens.

The board is an ASUS Prime B450m-a.

I downsized from an atx to a micro atx so I correctly moved the risers.

All components booted fine on the old motherboard.

I’m using a Ryzen 5 3600 so I’m worried that the BIOS is not new enough. How can I check what BIOS has been supplied with the board?

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

If no label is on the board or BIOS chip or the packaging, then you can only verify it by a 1st or 2nd gen CPU.

Did you plug in all power connectors? EPS12V 8pin and all GPU PCIe power connectors?

Which GPU and RAM are you using?

Do you use two RAM sticks? Then use the two grey Dimm slots

I have now found the BIOS details - the last few digits of the serial stuck onto the board show that it has the latest bios installed - 2006.

I have plugged in all power connectors. It’s possible I accidentally used the Hard drive power cable from my old PSU but I wouldn’t have thought that would cause this, would it?

GPU is a Palit RTX 2070.

RAM is two sticks of Corsair vengeance LPX 8GB and they’re installed into the two grey slots.
