I have a Yamaha cx-a5000 preamp that I feed 2.1 audio from my Windows PC.
With the impending MS Windows update, I'll need a new motherboard (and a bunch of other components).
Currently the connection is optical SPDIF.
I run video via DisplayPort.
Which begs the question, what to do? I don't need or particularly want 5.1 or 5.2 audio.
There's a dearth of SPDIF optical boards, and it appears to me that audio is disappearing from motherboard rear outputs. I'm not on the market for a new pc case, so a front panel solution would be problematic.
As a follow up question, how would one send audio (Windows OS) via a new motherboard solution?
