Looking at reviews for new motherboards, I notice so many people have problems installing Windows 7, as it does not have native USB 3 support.

But what I cannot understand is that on many of these motherboards there are at least two or more USB 2 ports, which would not be a problem for Windows 7 installation?

I am looking to buy the Asus B150-PLUS ATX LGA1151 next month, and even though it has four USB 2 ports on the back, the specs still give an asterisk for Windows 7 support. Why is this?

Okay, I see. That makes sense. Asus has a utility that you put into your Win 7 ISO, to allow Win 7 installation, so I will research that.

Thank you for your input!

the issue with new mb and older os is the older os is missing the intel chipset drivers needed to install to run the older os. there are two work arounds. one is using 3 party program like 7lite to make a new windows 7 iso image with all the new drivers and windows 7 updates from another pc then burn a new bootable iso usb stick. or the newer easy way is from another pc download windows 10 using the windows media creation tool. use a 8g usb stick to make the iso. use windows 7 key when it asks for a key durning the install. after windows 10 is installed. on the same usb stick make a folder called drivers and one for new programs. in the drivers folder downlaod the newest intel chipset driver..mei driver and any other updated driver for sound and ethernet that you can find on the net. also put a copy of the newest video driver in the folder. get windows 10 online make sure under actvtion it show your ok with a digital license. update windows 10. install anti virus ccleaner....flash and java from the usb stick. save time downloading it on the new pc.

I am upgrading from my old Phenom IIx6 to a Pentium or i3, until I can slap in an i7. Will be exciting!
