[SOLVED] New motherbord problems

So today my new motherboard arrived,is an ASRock H110M-DGS.After connecting all the cables,cpu ,gpu all that stuff i started the pc.It turn on but there was no display.The thing is a i connected the monitor to the gpu.and when i looked ath the mother board's back panel i only saw a dvi port.I have a vga monitor connect to the gpu by a vga hdmi adaptor.Can there be a problem with the motherboard?I check to see if my cpu,i5 6600k,is compatible with the motherboard and it is.Do i a vga dvi adaptor or how can i solve this problem?

Is the HDMI to VGA Adapter you are using passive or active like the one below?
