So we are about to get the NBN at our place and Telstra is pushing everyone to swap over to it but I have some questions.
So in my area all they are doing is replacing the copper between the nodes so it is FTTN but copper to the premises, we CANNOT get the copper to the premises upgraded.
So knowing this will the copper to the premises choke the NBN speed and bring it to ADSL speed anyway or will I see an improvement?

Solution
The speed you experience/receive will be only as fast as the slowest link along the way.

If the FTTN fiber is replacing really bad connectivity (copper or otherwise) then you may see an improvement. But only up to the capabilities of the existing network wiring into the premises or within the premises.

So the NBN speed may be held back. But by another part of the service path.
