Hello!

After fixing a power issue I finally got my PC up and running after almost 2 years out of service. When I plugged in the ethernet my entire house would crawl to nothing - and when I disconnected it, the network came back up. We determined it was my NIC that was the problem.

Just bought a new one and plugged it in to an available PCI-Ex16 slot on the MB. Computer didn't run a new hardware install thing.

Checked Device Manager, and it now shows under Network Adaptors "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" and "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller x2". I have tried disabling each one to see which is the new card, and the internet drops when I disable the 'x2'.

So. I tried to install the device driver (no .exe provided) via the install new driver under Properties. I choose the actual card's drivers, try to update...It responds with "your drivers are already up to date".

Currently running at 30kpbs via fast.com - cant even get Speedtest.net to load properly because the ads drag me down.

Is there any way to fix this? Should I worry? I AM slow, but things mostly seem to be ok.

Edit:

Just got frustrated and unplugged the Ethernet cable from the affected pc. Now fast.com is stating the connection is 560kpbs, where it was previously 20-30. Something is definitely wrong, but nothing makes sense.

Sorry, I thought I had included this. The new adapter is a TP-Link TG-3468 (http://www.tp-link.com/us/products/details/cat-5520_TG-3468.html)

I have the latest drivers, but the PC identifies it as a Realtek, not a TP-Link and prevents me from being able to install the actual drivers.
