1.) Thats just a guess by them. No one knows what they will get.

2.) A 9800NP should get 5,000+

3.) I play farcry just fine on my 9800pro

its funny how they "claim" somthing just because of hype when they probably havent even tested it yet.

FarCry plays great on my 9600XT, so I don't know what you are complaining about

Spec:
Intel P4 2.4B
MSI 645E Max-U Mobo
1GB DDR333
R9600XT 128MB
SB Live 5.1
WD 60GB
Maxtor 120GB
LG DVD+-R/RW
WIN2K PRO SP4

You're speaking about things of which you have no knowledge, sir.

My 9500 PRO gets 4000 3dmarks.
According to the article you reference, a heavily OC'd P4 and 9800XT got 10,000 3dmarks.

Still, I'm sure the NV40 will be a very fast card. I'm sure the R420 will be very fast, too. Until we have actual samples to compare, it's all heresy and idle speculation...

P.S. I can play far cry 1024*768 with medium-high detail very smoothly.

Someone is huffing thier mom's Pam spray again.

Mobile Barton 2500+ @ 2420mhz 11x220 1.7v
Asus A7N8X Dlx 440 FSB
1gb Geil GD pc3500 Dual Channel (2-3-3-6)
Segata 80gb SATA 8.5ms seek
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro(420/730)

Supposedly that 3Dmk03 NV40 card was OC'd beyond it's stock speeds, so I would take the figure with a grain of salt.

And yeah Huff'n'em obviously doesn't know how to setup his rig. My R9600Pro w/ and XP2000+ can crank out over 4K in 3Dmk03.

Also rememebr that it's the R9800 that has the 3Dmk03 titles, not the FX59XX. So 12k overclocked does not impress, especially since it's likely using uncertified drivers, that may be cutting corners, and likely has all the settings at high performance.

Alot of PR for something that they don't want people to see/test for real under proper conditions.

I imagine your system could get 5000 if you did some things to your system since your system is pretty much the same as mine. I have to say 3DMark03 seems pretty fickle to me. I ran the test twice in a row except between them I rebooted and ended a bunch of background processes that I have no clue what they do. On the first run I got 3850 marks and on the second run I got 5322 marks. That is one major leap considering how little difference there was between the two tests conditions. But man would I ever like to have a system that could pull off 12000.

just like nvidia claimed the 5800ultra was totally faster than th 9700pro , right?

they had to cheat in 3dmark03... Futuremark even had to patch the benchmark program so that they couldnt any more .. my oh my people have such short memories dont they

and ill believe it when i see it. they are probably running 3dmark03 in PS1.1 mode or something. not saying it isnt possible, i just take ANYtying to do with nvidias claims with a huge mouthful of salt now, as should everyone

I doubt ALL P.R., any savey consumer should.

I'm sure it's possible, but I'll believe it when [H], THG, Digit-Life, ExtremeTech, EliteBastards, The Tech Report and XbitLabs disect it to the Nth degree. And especially after FutureMark comments on the drivers. THEN I will believe it.

I just don't believe the hype. I want something more conrete from both sides. Hey if the NV45 is better than the R423, I will go that route (baring something cool being on the VERY near future from either company (or even XGI  and Matrox  ).

There's too much bad blood history with 3Dmk03 and nV that the scores without better info and especially IQ tests and individual scores (at least like I have in the Catalyst Comparo) means very little to me. At this point it's as bad as those PhotoShoped 3Dmk03 scores of the supposed R9800MAXX which shows 19k.

Yeah, gimme proof. 'til then, don't even tell me about it.

I don't totally doubt it at all, I agree with your point of view that with the info we got, it is far from something to get excited about right now. If this is a "real earned" 12K score that will become a norm as 6000 for an R9800 pro, than wow, that will be something to smile about. But right now, I am way to cautious to be fooled again.
