Hello, at the moment I have a Samsung 990 Pro NVMe 1TB, but I’m planning to get another one — the same model, but 2TB. My question is: would my games run slower if I installed them on the new NVMe drive that doesn’t have Windows installed on it and i kept 1tb as a windows drive? Thanks.

Always something I've wondered about too. Is it that applications run independent of Windows (in parallel) so it doesn't matter if they are on the same drive? I am not even sure the speeds would be too noticeable between an NVME and a SATA, in any combination of OS installation or not. Maybe someone can elaborate if its a real phenomenon or simply one of perception.

It is generally advisable to have the OS and applications on the same drive.
This includes the Steam client, or other game launchers. The game content can live elsewhere.

A system with multiple drives is very very common.

My main system has 6x, all SSD of some sort.
