So the NVMe SSD appears in the BIOS and in Device Manager. It does NOT appear in the My computer /My PC section. I also, CANNOT save files to it.

Computer management > Storage > Disk Management

Disk 1 unkown
1863.02 GB 1863.02 GB
Not Initialized Unallocated

Is this the problem?

Also, what does Populate disk do?

Have you attempted to do ANYTHING with it in Disk Management?

By a right click, perhaps? Or from a menu?

Or have you merely observed it there?
I merely observed that it was there. I tried googling, which was somewhat helpful. I then tried to initialize the SSD, which lead to create simple volume (which i had never heard of before). I ended up creating a new partition forthe new SSD and i can now access the new SSD and store things on it.Though i am quite annoyed that it is onlyallowing me to use 1.8 Terabytes when it was a 2 terabyte SSD.

Apparently an SSD is NOT the same as a partition ON an SSD. I had thought that by merely plugging the new SSD into the correct port, that it wouldinstantly recognize the new device WITHOUT the need to configure it.

Circa 1.8 TB is absolutely normal. Mine shows 1.86 to be specific.

No SSD is going to be usable without formatting. Same as with an ordinary HDD.

You can't use any drive if it doesn't have a partition. Not sure of your point.

It has been a long time since i setup my computer. I built the computer myself in 2018. I have never put a second SSD inside the computer until now. So this weas the first time i had set up an SSD. Unless i setup the first SSD when installing windows in 2018?I forget. Either way,i am pretty sure the process for setting up an SSD with windows would be different than when a second SSD is setup.

Thankyou for the help though. 😀

Any and all drives would have to partitioned and those partitions would have to be formatted to be useful. Windows or not.

You could then put Windows on one of the partitions...it would appear as C. Windows installation is a separate procedure.

Any other partitions on that same drive or on any other drive would appear as D, E, F, etc.

By default, SOME of the partitions created during a Windows installation are quite small and don't have drive letters.

A drive that is for storage purposes only, not Windows, might well just have a single partition, later subdivided by a folder structure.
